Morgan has been dying to wear her "big girl" dress to
church. I figured the primary program Sunday was as good
a time as any. She felt so grown up!

Stastny FUN FAMILY Day!
If any of you have been paying attention to politics, and interviews with Sarah Palin, you know that we Alaskans received a pretty big Dividend this year. And the fair just happened to fall a few weeks before we got our payout, so we told the kids if they would forgo the whole expensive, crowded, crazy, obnoxious fair thing, then when we got our PFD's we would take them out for a fun Family Day. They loved the idea! So we waited for Matt's next day off, and pulled the kids out of school for the day. We started out at the newly redesigned Toys R Us/ Babies R Us in Anchorage, letting each of the kids pick out a toy under $20. (we weren't letting them go crazy, just a fun treat!) Then we headed over to the mall, for some bowling. Gabe was in heaven! The Chinese restaurant we wanted to go to was in the same mall, so when we were done bowling we headed upstairs to eat lunch. After that, the kids and Matt wanted a trip to Boarders, where we let them once again, each pick out a book. (the stipulation was that it had to be something they could read to themselves...except for Morgan's, cause she doesn't read. But hers even had to be something that Chandler and Gabe could read to her, since that's part of their reading time now) They had a ball. I really love that my kids all love books. We were home by late afternoon, in time to enjoy the wonderful sunshine we got that day, and do a little yard work what with fall upon us, and winter right around the corner. I love these kind of days. Just spending time as a family.

A Day for Baking.
A couple weeks ago I spent the whole day cooking. It wasn't something I set out to do, do you know how it is. A batch of raspberry jam turns into 3, then a loaf of bread needs to be made for a neighbor who rendored a kindness, then a family in the ward is having a baby, and its your turn to make a meal, which always includes dessert, right? Then the dinner hour arrived, and I through together an experimental soup I'd seen on Paula Dean's show. No I didn't follow her recipee, just the idea of the meal. Its become a hit for our family, and one of my favorite quick fix meals.

ZEBRA DAY!
Preschool Pictures
This is Morgan on her first day of school. Matt had the day off, and we both took her on her first day to meet her teacher, and get her settled in her class. (big mistake...I think I almost cried more than once. This is my BABY!) This is Matt and Morgan picking out her cubby. She was a little hesitant at first, since she's at a new preschool this year, but she warmed right up to the idea pretty soon.
Since school starts at 8:30am, and Morgan gets on the bus at 7:30am, I'm kind of relieved that they eat meals at Morgan's preschool. We try to get her to eat breakfast before she gets on the bus...but the kid is just not hungry so early some morning. They eat meals to teach the kids manners, and practice hand/eye coordination. The use a lot of tongs to dish the food, to help prepare them for writing, and using those muscles. This was Morgan getting ready to eat breakfast.

Warning! Ranting Zone Ahead!
Do you ever have those days where you wonder why you even bothered to get out of bed? You got zero done, and more time was wasted than was saved.
I actually had a pretty darn good day yesterday. I dropped Morgan off at Grandma's to play with her cousins, got the boys on the bus, and Matt and I headed into town to do a little PFD Costco and Sams Club shopping. Matt bought to large shelves for our garage last week, so his intention was to fill it up. Its kind of funny, they're set up facing the other shelves on the wall, so its kind of like a grocery isle on one side of our garage. But I love the feeling that if something happened, and we were unable to get food, or other grocery items, we would be set for a while. (we're thinking like a couple to 4 months.)
After my handy hubby helped me load the last of the large, heavy groceries, I sent him off the work, and I went to meet my SIL for lunch. It was so nice. We rarely get to do this, and I hope to be able to do it more with all my SIL's. No kids, no hubbies, just two gals enjoying a yummy meal and good conversation.
When I got home from shopping, Gabe had been sent home sick from school...
(I hate it when the kids are sick....I'm just not that kind of mom, who enjoys taking care of sick kids...I'm not compassionate enough I guess. I like it when they're independent, and don't need me)
So I stuck Gabe in a room at Grandma's to rest and watch a movie while I took off to the pool, so I could get a number, wait in line for 2 hours, just to be told that the swimming classes I was hoping to get all three kids into this fall are all full. URG! Total waste of my morning. Now I'm off the hopefully get a little bit of laundry, cleaning, and cooking done, so I can start out tomorrow in a better mood. Wish me luck!

It's Been One of Those...
This has been one crazy week...as evident by my lack of posts!
Monday night was my first night of Kickboxing. Loved it! In two weeks, we earn our boxing bags. I'm way excited about that. Had to take Morgan in for her TB test before starting school, and she was one very unhappy camper. (last shot though...at last till she's 11)
Tuesday was Morgan's first day of school...took pictures with Grandma's camera, so I'll post those later.
Wednesday was my SIL's Scentsy Party, and let me just say, she had a very good one! Lots of people, was totally fun. It was a themed party. People came wearing orange, and she served lots of pumpkin type foods. It was great. Had to take Morgan back to the doctor to have her TB test read.
Thursday was gym, running errands, my Scentsy Launch, oh, and I repainted my kitchen. (I'll have before and after pictures posted soon)
Today I spent cleaning up after my party, going to the gym, running more errands, (dealing with all the crazies in the stores who's PFD's are burning a whole in their pockets), and I watched my adorable nephew Jense tonight while his mommy went to the temple with my parents. Now, I'm sitting here watching Baby Mama, since Matt is working late, and finishing up my last batch of Jam. (that's like my ump-teenth of the season...I think we finally have enough jam this year) Raspberry Lemonade, Strawberry lemonade, Raspberry Mango, Strawberry, Triple Berry, Apple Jelly, and Strawberry Pineapple.

One Great Weekend!
I had the best weekend! I was able to go to Time Out for Women. Sister Sherri Dew spoke. (she is one of my absolute favorites.) Hillery Weeks sang, and I loved listening to Emily Watts, and Micheal Wilcox. Everyone was terrific. We started the weekend with my favorite food, (Chinese) then headed to the conference, then hit a 10pm showing of Mama Mia. I highly recommend this movie. It was so cute, and I loved the music. Definitely a chick movie. (unless your husband is secure with his masculinity like mine is)
We stayed at the hotel in Anchorage so we wouldn't have to drive back and forth. (mom, Jayme, Renae and I) and it was like having a giant slumber party! Then we went back the next day, for even more fun and great speakers.
While mom was away, daddy and the kids got to play. This meant pizza and movies Friday night, with a big slumber party of their own in our living room. Then Saturday, Matt's dad came over and they decided to hike the Butte. The Butte is a fun hike. But apparently I neglected to let Matt in on a little secret. (When you get to the top, go back down the same way. Don't take the trail that goes down the other side.) They went up one side of the mountain, and then down the other side, and when they couldn't find the car, realized that it was on the other side. Oops! So, after 5 miles walking around the base of the mountain, they were finally on their way home. (the kids sure slept good that night...1 mile up the mountain--much of it rock climbing--1 mile down, then a long walk) And all I had to do was go away for the weekend. Thanks sweetie! Your the bestest!
